Five For Fighting, Last Great American

There are many things I’d like to change to this but here is my first work
There’s little hope in my broken heart
she’s closed the door and left me inside
I’m all alone and the darkness screams at me
I was a man once with hopes and dreams
and though I may have been kicked down
I’m gonna get up and turn around.
She is with a new guy from out of town
he’s got a mercedes with black windows
There is a glint in his eyes and I do know why
he’s with the prettiest woman in town
and done nothing wrong I know of
though I hate him just the same
stole her away and I’m to blame
I should smart up and turn around
and turn around
and turn around
One day I will learn from my mistakes
I should remember that life is give and take
Make sure that every day ends with I love you
despite the arguments you often have
and with each night that passes
she lays in your arms
you’ll be thanking your lucky charms
there is no need to turn around
you’ll be thanking your lucky charms
there is no need to turn around
